Feelings Are Like Farts

How exactly is a feeling like a fart? They can be silent but never deadly, they can follow you around when you try to leave them behind, and if you hold them in too long, they can end up really exploding! 

Five years ago, two friends— psychologist Chris Willard and art teacher Tara Wosiski — started texting each other some ideas based on one of their daughter’s jokes, and now, the charming picture book has arrived, with gorgeous illustrations by Toshi Nakamura!

Dr. Christopher Willard, (Psy. D.) is a clinical psychologist, author, and consultant based in Massachusetts. He has spoken in 41 countries and has presented at two TEDx events. He is the author of 20 books, including Alphabreaths (2019), Growing Up Mindful (2016), Feelings are Like Farts (2023) and College Mental Health 101, (2025). His thoughts on mental health have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Postmindful.orgcnn.com, and elsewhere. He teaches at Harvard Medical School. He has spent the last 25 summers on the Vineyard.
